Invisalign Treatment Process
Book Your First
Consultation
We’ll start by evaluating your smile to see if Invisalign is a good fit for you. If it is, we’ll use our digital scanner to create a detailed 3D image of your teeth and show you a preview of what your smile could look like after treatment.
Develop a Custom
Treatment Plan
Using the information from your first appointment, we’ll create a personalized Invisalign treatment plan with a projected timeline. The plan will outline how your teeth are expected to shift with each set of aligners along the way.
Start Your Invisalign
Treatment Journey
We’ll create a custom series of Invisalign clear aligners designed specifically for your smile. You’ll wear them as directed, taking them out only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Over time, the aligners will gently and gradually move your teeth into place.
Switch Your Aligners
As Directed
After wearing each set of aligners for the number of days your dentist recommends, you’ll switch to the next set in your series. You’ll also come in for quick checkups every four to six weeks so your dental team can monitor your progress.
Maintain Your
Straighter Smile
Reaching the end of your orthodontic treatment is a big and exciting milestone! At your final appointment, we’ll go over what comes next and provide you with retainers to help keep your teeth in their new, beautifully aligned positions.

Invisalign FAQs
Read the answers to our most frequently asked questions.
-
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a series of clear, custom-fitted aligners that straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets.
Using advanced 3D computer imaging technology during the consultation process, we will create a treatment plan based on your unique smile.
A series of custom clear aligners will then be manufactured to fit your teeth precisely during each stage of the Invisalign treatment process.
-
How does the Invisalign process work?
Invisalign clear aligners work by gradually shifting your teeth in small steps throughout your treatment. You’ll wear each set for a specific number of days before moving on to the next one in the series.
This process continues until your teeth reach their ideal positions. Your dentist will determine the overall length of your treatment based on your unique smile and needs.
-
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Your dentist can tailor the duration of your Invisalign treatment based on your individual needs.
Several factors can affect how long treatment takes, including how misaligned your teeth and/or jaw are, the shape of your bite, and how much movement is needed to achieve the desired results.
-
What are Invisalign aligners made of?
The Invisalign aligners are made with USP Class VI medical-grade, high molecular weight polyurethane resins. They are BPA free.
-
How often do I have to visit the dentist?
Because Invisalign aligners don’t need tightening or adjustments, you simply switch to a new set as directed, your dentist will schedule quick check-ins every four to six weeks or so.
These visits are a chance to monitor your progress, check on your overall oral health, answer any questions you have, and make any necessary updates to your treatment plan.
-
What are the primary features of Invisalign?
The features of Invisalign include:
- A discreet, low profile appearance
- Smooth construction for enhanced comfort
- Do not require adjustment appointments
- Removable for eating, brushing and flossing
-
How much does Invisalign cost?
Cost will depend on the severity of your case and duration of your treatment. For instance, the more severe the malocclusion, the more aligners you'll need and the more your treatment will cost.
In many cases, the cost of Invisalign is comparable to that of traditional orthodontic treatment (braces).
-
How will Invisalign fit my lifestyle?
Invisalign is designed to fit seamlessly into your daily routine.
You’ll simply remove your aligners when it’s time to eat, drink, brush, or floss. That means no food restrictions, and you’ll be able to keep up with your usual brushing and flossing habits without any extra hassle.
-
Are there any food or drink restrictions?
Because Invisalign aligners are removable, there’s no need to change your diet. Just take them out when it's time to eat, and you can keep enjoying all your favourite foods!
To keep your aligners clear and protect your teeth, we do recommend taking them out whenever you drink anything other than plain water.
-
How many sets of aligners will I need?
How many aligners you’ll need really depends on how severe your misalignment is.
After a thorough evaluation of your teeth during your initial consultation, your dentist can provide a more accurate estimate tailored just for you.
-
Can adults use Invisalign?
Yes! Anyone who has healthy teeth and gums is a potential candidate for Invisalign.
More and more adults are deciding to undergo orthodontic treatment these days, in large part because options like Invisalign have become available.
-
Can teenagers use Invisalign?
Yes! Teens can certainly be candidates for Invisalign. In fact, Invisalign has created a line of aligners to meet the unique needs of teenagers.
Invisalign Teen aligners have compliance indicators on them (small blue dots that fade away after the aligners have been worn enough) to help teens stay on track with their treatment.
They also come with eruption tabs that provide space for second molars and help prevent them from growing in crooked.
-
How often do I have to change my Invisalign aligners?
Most patients change to their next set of aligners every two weeks or so. Your dentist will tell you exactly how often you should switch out your aligners.
-
How do I clean my aligners?
Each time you take out your aligners, give them a quick rinse to wash away any dry saliva and plaque that can lead to cavities and bad breath.
Before putting your aligners back in, always thoroughly brush and floss your teeth. Good oral hygiene is essential, not only to keep your teeth healthy, but also to prevent food and bacteria from getting trapped between your teeth and the aligners, which can cause decay and unpleasant odours.
Deep clean your aligners once a day with an antibacterial soap. It’s an easy and affordable way to keep them clear, fresh, and free from harmful bacteria. Additionally, you can soak your aligners using denture cleaner, Retainer Brite, or the official Invisalign cleaning crystals to keep them fresh.
Then, just brush your aligners gently to avoid scratching, rinse off any soap, and you’re all set!
-
Can I play sports with Invisalign?
Invisalign aligners are removable, allowing you to play sports without worrying about damaging them.
However, keep in mind that Invisalign aligners must be kept in for a minimum of 22 hours a day, so plan your time carefully.
It is also recommended that you invest in a sports mouth guard to protect your teeth, as orthodontic treatment can cause your teeth to loosen slightly as they shift into their new positions, and this can make them more susceptible to damage.
-
Can I play my instrument with Invisalign?
Yes! Simply remove your aligners if required to practice playing your instrument, and pop them back in when you're done.
-
How do I store my aligners?
Your Invisalign aligners come with a case, and it’s best to always store them there whenever you take them out to keep them safe. Because they’re made of plastic, avoid leaving them in hot places where they could warp or melt.
